The IOG Player Development Pathway

At the Institute of Golf we have pride ourselves on providing a total player pathway for every player from entry level to earning money from the game. We have identified that every player wants to know what the options are when getting into this game and finding possible avenues to then earn a living out of the game so many feel so passionate about.

The IOG Player Development Pathway provides player and parents alike with a clear idea of the path players can travel throughout the game here at the Institute, and helps players set  goals in the future to ensure continual progress. With the IOG’s PDP players and parents can be confident to see we have every corner of the field covered. Whether they want to play the game socially, become a collegiate player in the US and get a full scholarship, or to turn professional and make money on one of the many tours around the world.

With our talent on the world stage we are continually gaining contacts to further our players that want to get a US collage scholarship or turn professional. This enables us to give our players more opportunities to make a living from this game, where being in the corner of the world generally doesn’t give you such options and opportunities.

We generally take players at age 4 where they then would start on the IOG Future Stars Programme. The FS programme enables the players to learn golf skills and a wider variety of FMS that are a necessity to becoming a fit healthy child. Players would go through Level 1 then Level 2 through the programme gaining a variety of skills and with the guidance from the IOG team we would start to transition them into playing and golf club life.

The golfers that enter the PDP at in their teens would start in the IOG Teen Stars Programme. The TS programme is a step up from the FS and aimed at kids older in athletic ability.

Players that come to us in their teens can also be chosen to join the IOG Academy. This is a very intense program that players become a team member and a member of the IOG range facility. This enables the player to practice and work with the team on a daily and weekly basis to ensure very fast and continual improvement. This transitions the player from a social player to a more dedicated athlete where golf would be their chosen sport. As one of the commitments we require is 1500 hours of productive practice, a player can not focus on multiple sports as there just not enough time in the week. The IOG Academy is a very competitive but social network of players that work together as a team, and represent the IOG brand as a whole.

From the Academy we can help players further their game down multiple paths, from Collegate Golf in the US to a PGA Apprenticeship, or a PGA touring professional.

No matter where you fit in the IOG Player Development Pathway you can be confident your future is in good hands.
