We know golf is supposedly played 90% between the ears. Here are David Niethe’s keys to unlocking the secrets
- Have the best of intention let go the outcome.
- Breathe in for 4 seconds; hold for five, breath out slowly. You’ll feel calmer in an instant.
- Know your limitations and play smart. Don’t let your ego select your club or shot.
- Focus on what you want – not what you want to avoid.
- Get perspective – not peeved! You may have just missed that easy par or putt but your alive and well in one of the world’s most beautiful countries – enjoy it.
- Take time and enjoy a well formed pre-shot routine, taking a few seconds to clarify will drop shots and speed up play.
- Get a coach. We have some of the best in the world so use them.
- Laugh a lot and give as much positive energy to the bad shots as you do the good one.
- If you don’t know, pretend like you do. Seriously, walk into that tough bunker shot like your Tiger Woods. If you pretend your brilliant you might just surprise yourself.
- Be honest, if you want to really improve ask your yourself are you really putting in enough effort.
