What is the IOG Certification?

The Institute of Golf certification is a multi- level training program that certifies golf specific specialists in the technique, multi- departmental communication systems and philosophies designed and implemented by the Institute of Golf.

This revolutionary certification will educate the attendee to, competently identify,diagnose and implement the revolutionary systems used by the Institute of Golf.

There are four obtainable certifications available through the Institute of Golf. Each level becomes more comprehensive and advanced for the attending individual.

Level one PGA coaches, health and fitness specialists can expect to learn the basic level communication models and philosophies used by the Institute of Golf.

What are the learning outcomes of the Level One Certification?

  • Understanding of Specific Departments roles within the Institute of Golf and player training phases.
  • Full swing technical mechanics and principles used by the Institute of Golf
  • Golf Anatomy
  • Understand Neutral spine as well as be able to identify spine posture
  • Understand the anatomy, and movements of the lumbar and thoracic
  • Spine during the golf swing
  • Be aware of common golf related injuries
  • Understand the bio-mechanics and movement patterns of the backswing
  • Instructional screening processes
  • Understand X-Factor and X-Factor stretch theories
  • Understand and identify normal/abnormal bio-mechanics of the down swing and pivot in relation to movements associated with the lead hip and lower back
  • Identify bio-mechanical/technical dysfunctions in the swing that will increase likelihood of lower back injuries
  • Physiotherapy screening processes
  • Understand basic kinematic sequence and kinetic chain (K-Vest readings)
  • Be able to interpret basic kinematic sequence graph (K-Vest readings)
  • Analyse golf swing video (down the line and front on)
  • Design improvement programs based on screening data and physiotherapy MBA outcomes
  • Identify potential risks through physical and technical dysfunctions
  • Identify player prime modalities and illicit language patterns for optimal player learning

 

Note: the detail of knowledge required in some of the fields varies depending on profession, for example golf instructors do not need to be able to perform a physiotherapy screening, but they do need to be aware of the process involved, and be able to have enough knowledge to interpret the finds of a physiotherapy report.
