2012 IOG Academy

TopIOG 2012 Academy

2012 is going to be a very exciting year for the IOG and its members. We are totally revamping the Academy and it will bring a whole new look to the packages and the structure of the year for the players. We are looking to include a whole lot of new iniatives that the team at IOG have been reseaching and carefully planned and we all feel its going to be the start of something very very cool.

With all elite golfers, a more holistic look at the golf game is present, so the team here at IOG are bringing that to every Academy player. Every week* players will be brought up to speed with the tools to get their body in shape, and keep it in shape so that they have the best opportunity to play consistent golf, week after week.

At the start of the Academy year the medical team will be taking the players through screenings to find out where they are physically. This will give the coaching team and medical department the best indication as to how the group classes will run, and what the common needs the players have.

The players will be in class environments on Tuesdays* and Thursdays* to encourage them to work on their fittness, nutrition, stretching and functional skills, that will only improve their lifestyle, way of life and more importantly their golf.

Every quarter roughly the Academy players will be monitored on course, in a 9 hole game at Waitemata, where the coaches can see them play, and find faults and weaknesses that are not present on the range.

Every half year our Director of Mental Performance David Neithe will be running seminars to get the players working more on their pre round, pre shot focus, and get them thinking in the now. Giving the players processes to help them in the tough situations they face when in bigger events.

* Classes will run on the first 8 weeks of school term, as published in the 2012 Academy Calender below.

Top2012 Academy FAQ’s

Since the 2012 Academy is changing so much, here are some FAQ’s that will help answer any questions you may have.

Who can join the Academy?

Anyone can join the Academy, beginner or expert, junior or senior. It totally revolves around the players needs.

What Option is best for me?

The best option is dependent on the players needs. If the player requires a lot of attention in short space of time, then the 6 month term options are the right choice. If the player is a beginner and is not member of a club, then the Clinic Option is the pick of the bunch. Please discuss with the coaches if you are unsure.

What is the difference between Options?

There are quite a few differences between the options, 2012 there is a lot of additions to the packages, most of the additions coming outside golf coaching.

Why is the 2012 Academy different from 2011?

After doing a lot of research and work on the current program, we have decided to add in other parts of the holistic game. It is a very exciting time for Academy members, as we are moving more toward the team environment, not just the Academy team, but every player having their own team, ie Coach, Physio, Trainer etc etc.

Why are there fewer lessons in 2012 than 2011?

After working with many players for so long, and seeing how the players are progressing, we have realized the players can become too coach dependant. Being able to self manage and self monitor is a huge part of becoming an elite player, with less coaching time the players will make more use of the one on one time they get with their coach, and soon become a better player for it.

What if I join the Academy half way through the year?

There are two packages availvle that have 6 month terms, these are ideal for players that join half way through.

What are the payment options?

We have teamed up with a company to deal with all the payments, and we prefer you to use Debit Success. They manage all the ins and outs of the payments, these are done by direct debit off an account or a credit card. These terms can be weekly or fortnightly.

Can I get a lesson from a different coach during the year?

Yes, of course. The team is here for every player. 2012 a player can choose to get lessons from either coach at any time. Since the payment options are the same with either coach, this choice is seamless.

What if I miss one of the group classes?

The group classes will run regardless. If a player misses out, due to an event, prior engagement, or they just forget, unfortunately the player will forfeit that class. The class times will be aviavle in Janruary and will run during the school terms, this is to not clash with holidays and holiday events.

What Option should I choose if I am a beginner?

The best choice is the Clinic Option. This way the player gets two hour long sessions in a group per week, and a practice day. Perfect way to get into the game.

What choices do I have if I cant commit to a full year?

The 6 month term is perfect for you then. If you think 6 months is too much, then private sessions can be scheduled, and a range membership can be arranged at a slightly higher price.
