Toro Women’s Interprovincial sees igolf’s Elite Players battling it out

After 4 days of matches in the 2009 Toro Women’s Interprovincial’s at the Grange GC, in Auckland, we have found 4 finalists.

igolfs Elite players, Lydia Ko, Zoe Brake, Courtney Manning and Charlotte Brooks have played their provinces into the final two rounds, with their 5 player teams battling the 14 regions, to get their way into the final 4.

Lydia who represents harbour at #1 has dominated her games over the first 6 matches, winning by margins of 4/2, 6/5, 7/6, 2/1, 6/5 and 5/4. Lydia is by far the youngest player in the field and is commanding the highest respect. Courtney Manning is knocking off her opponents also with an unbeaten record after regulation play, with numbers of 5W 1H and 0L.

Bay of Plenty, who are chasing their 17th Interprovincial Trophy, have igolf’s Zoe Brake at #1. Zoe who turned 18 on Thursday has played solid golf so far with 4 wins, 1 half and 1 loss. The loss was to unbeaten Cecelia Cho, who at the top of the NZGA Order of Merit, is the other player to watch on the last day.

Harbour are represented by some other solid numbers from Rica Tse who won every match, Rebecca Brownlee, and Faye Amy Nixon.

The 4 semi finalists after 7 rounds of matches are Waikato, Auckland, Bay of Plenty and Harbour.

All 4 of igolfs elite players will representing tomorrow, the matches are:

Auckland vs Waikato

Harbour vs Bay of Plenty

This means we will see 12-year-old igolf superstar and winner of the recent Charles Tour Event, Lydia Ko battling igolf’s Zoe Brake, who herself just turned 18, in the first semifinal match. Battle of igolf’s Elite!

igolf wishes the girls from HARBOUR all the best of luck and we will see you out there tomorrow!!

If you are an igolf player, there will be no Academy or Elite 9 holes at Waitemata tomorrow Saturday 10th October, players and coaches will be out supporting at the Interprovincials.
