2009 Auckland Matchplay Championships

2009 Panasonic Auckland Match play Championships were contested in the weekend at with 5 igolf players in the top 16. Held at the Titirangi Golf Club over the weekend, the top 16 players from the Stroke play event last month fought for the title.

First round saw igolf’s Scott McAlpine, winner of the Stroke play title, defeating N. Voke 3 and 2.

An all igolf battle of Van Wright and James Beale saw Beale being defeated 4 and 2, by Wright who is very shortly going to represent Samoa in the Pacific Games, held in Rarotonga this year.

Igolf’s Cameron Jones defeated J. Walters of Waikare on the 19th hole, and Kevin Budden cruised through to the 2nd round of match play with a win over D. Gallot of Akarana 4 & 3.

2nd round matches saw igolf’s Scott McAlpine get defeated by Sam An 3 and 2, Kevin Budden beating G J Hill on the 18th and another all igolf match with Van Wright beating Cam Jones 4 and 2.

With 2 players in the semi-finals igolf was represented well again, Van Wright defeating Sam An on the 18th and Kevin Budden’s great run ending on the 16th, losing to D. Millington.

The final round between Van Wright and D Millington, was finally ended on the 17th with Van losing the must win hole to go 3 down and end the match.igolf small

2009 Youth Town Wairakei Open

The Charles Tour comes to Wairakei this week and igolf will be represented well and looking to dominate, the Professional, Male and Female Amateur leader boards.
