The 3rd round is done dusted at the YouthTown Wairakei Open, and with the cold wet weather came much of the same scoring.
The igolf leaders, Brad Shilton and Lydia Ko, struggled to find the form that saw them take the lead after 2 rounds, and both shot 3 over par rounds of 75.
This saw Lydia finish the championship at +3 for the tournament and finish 3rd. Co-leader on the final day, Emily Perry, shot -2 under 70, with some great golf down the stretch took out the victory with a comfortable 4 shot win. Lydia’s fairway shot on the par 4 6th found the lip of the bunker and ended her hopes of a charge in the last few holes. It was a huge effort for the 12 year old superstar, who made the whole igolf team proud by sticking to her game plan, and pre shot routine, every shot of the day. Its just a matter of time when Lydia gets it all going and shoots lights out in one of these events.
Shilton didn’t find the groove in his 3rd round that he was in, in the first two rounds, playing with close friends Josh Carmichael and Brendan Stuart, the three of them played similar golf and couldn’t feed of each others momentum from the first few rounds. The players shot 6 over collectively.
Michael Hendry shot -2 70, to pick up a couple of shots on the leaders. He will start the day 8 shots back of Shilton.
Brad will be playing in the final group again, 1 shot ahead of Carmichael, Stuart and Mark Purser.
The Institute of Golf Professional Department and Physiotherapy Department will be out again to watch over their numerous players that are looking for some low numbers tomorrow to shake up the scoring.
